Hollow Lantern: getting past the two puzzles that stump everyone

June 27, 2026 · Marek Dvořák

Hollow Lantern is mostly a smooth ride, but two puzzles stop nearly everyone, and both of us got stuck in the same spots. Here are hints, not solutions, so you still get the satisfaction of the click.

The lantern room feels broken until you realize the order matters, not just which lights you touch. Think about what the room looked like when you first entered, and work backward from there.

The tide gate is the other wall. Players keep looking for an item, but the answer is already in the room — it's about timing with the water level, not a tool you're missing. Watch a full tide cycle before you try anything.

If you're still stuck after that, it's fine to look it up and keep going. Hollow Lantern is a short, atmospheric game, and getting glued at one puzzle shouldn't cost you the quiet ending it's building toward.
