Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is a proper sit-down RPG that happens to live on your phone. You build a party of four from a roster of oddball exiles, each with a distinct role, and the fun is in how their skills overlap. Our favorite combo paired a healer who could also stun with a glass-cannon archer — risky, but it carried us through the mid-game slog.
The writing surprised us. Side quests actually reference earlier choices, and a couple of characters stuck with us longer than we expected from a mobile game. Combat is turn-based with a small positioning element, so where you place your front line matters more than raw numbers.
It asks for patience. The early hours are slow while you learn the systems, and there's an energy mechanic that caps long sessions. But if you like a story and don't mind grinding a region to over-prepare, it's one of the richer RPGs we've played this year.
What we liked
- Party-building with real synergy to discover
- Writing that remembers your choices
- Deep enough for long-term play
